Interfoliere [ent foli‘e’ ] (latin) - interleave: ”To insert a leaf or leaves in; to bind with blank leaves inserted between the others; as, to interleave a book”.

Even though Vektormusiks new EP is dominated by well known instruments such as piano, clarinet and trumpet, it´s hard to define their sound, which has references to jazz, folk and glitch electronica. The title on their new EP is therefore fitting and can be taken as an invitation to put words to the feelings the music enables in the listener. It is a very atmospheric music that reveals itself as Interfoliere goes along at snail´s pace, and pictures of deserted landscapes and dark windy streets appear on the retina.

Both members come from small towns in the Danish countryside, which in many ways can be heard in their laidback style, and even after moving to the city, the band has maintained this quality. Vektormusik's meditative, thoughtful and fragile music seems to have much more in common with the stationary monotony and yearning of a small town than the fast pulse of a city.

Where the duo's first EP was characterized by a fascination with ultra-slow glitch-dub, Interfoliere is composed in a more refined manner, more detailed in production and umcompromising in its choice of acoustic instrumentation. With their handplayed loop-structures, discrete electronic elements and understated rhythms, Vektormusik continue the neo-ambient tradition, that labels like City Centre Offices and acts like Dictaphone are representing. At the same time they add an organic feel to the sound, a touch of modal-jazz (Bill Evans inspirered piano) and distant echoes of old Scandinavian folk songs.

There is a strong yet calm rhythmic foundation, based on a delicate mixture of acoustic and electronic soundscapes, and the music never ceases to dwell in itself, but constantly floats in textures leaving the listener with a feeling of progressive subtlety.
