Rumpistol is the debut album from the Danish electronica artist ‘Rumpistol’ (Danish for spacegun!), aka Jens Berents Christiansen. It is also the first release from Jens´own label, Rump Recordings.
Rumpistol has already achieved great reviews in the Danish press as well as the music audience with its first limited edition. Due to this extremely positive response, Rump Recordings is now re-releasing the album, in a slightly modified version, with a new cover, one new track, and a remix by Danish artist Pondul.
Along with its experimental approach, Rumpistol is an extremely friendly and inviting album with its elastic sense of rhythm, harmonic warmth, and melodic clarity. Inspired by the German electronic dub scene and labels such as ~Scape, Rumpistol is full of controlled vinyl clicks and crackles, and a subtle dub-feeling, which collectively leave the listener pleasantly disturbed.
Jens’ particular attention to production quality on this debut album makes every detail vivid which undoubtedly provides listening pleasure time and time again. His music is delightfully dynamic, rich with variations and crafty melodies. Since Jens possesses an ability to make a wide array of compositions, he’s been compared to artists from many different genres such as, Boards of Canada, Peter Kruder, Luke Vibert, Gotan Project, and Mouse On Mars.
