The Andy Vaz “Sound Variation” vinyl series on the elusive and nameless label which is therefore entitled [- - -] delivers the long awaited last and final instalment, here with remixes by Oliver Hacke, Further Details, James Din A4 as well as Canadian 3 turntable stuntmen Jeff Milligan.
All works simply defined by the criteria of re-use, recycling of same instrumentations, within the context of boundless compositional approaches. This edition is based on the use of the same sounds, re-used throughout the entire ep, giving each track another musical approach by pushing each instrument in a different compositional direction by re-arrangement, tone shifting and adding/changing effects in order to demonstrate that a defined production criteria brings forth maximal results through the process of limitation within a lo-fi aesthetic.
All four cuts are easily ready to play, straight forward dance floor tracks each with their own individual characteristic. Oliver Hacke known for his releases on cologne based Traum/Trapez imprint delivers the straightest cut here – a crisp modern techno track crying out loud to be played at night, while James Din makes Andy Vaz’s source material extremely dense with a slow up-building afro type house track, whilst Jeff Milligan delivers a linear strong grooving classic minimal house track that will well suit his spectacular 3 turntable Dj’ing also making sure that his productions skills are second to none. London’s Further Details (of Real Soon Recordings) twists the material into a soulful house tune that perfectly rounds up this brilliant remix ep and marks the end of a series that left an impact on electronic music and that’s going to be a most sought after collectors item.
