Available only on limited 10 inch vinyl format Ove Chan Dancehall is a new release by Osaka breakcore monster Ove Naxx aka Isao Sano. Ove Naxx's distorted noise/breakcore music mashes up death-metal, j-pop, dancehall and samples of latin american music & farmyard animals. His music is technically comparable to Venetian Snares or Squarepusher, but much dirtier sounding. Over the last year (2005/6), he's been extensively touring Europe, Australia & Japan with DJ Scotch Egg, DJ Rupture and Doddodo. He creates all his music on a battered old MPC2000 sampler, which he also uses for live performances.
Ove has been releasing music since 2000, including a split 12" with Jason Forrest/Donna Summer on Adaadat, another split 12" with Timeblind, DJ C & Wayne Lonesome on Tigerbeat6 sublabel Shockout. A full length album on DJ Rupture's Soot label, another full length CD on his ow imprint Accelmuzhik, in addition to numerous compilation appearences on labels IHIHI, Death$ucker, Mirex, Renda, Agriculture and Nazna Oiran Inc.
This record features guest appearences from Adaadat artist DJ Scotch Egg & Australian breakcore artist Toecutter. The artwork was created by Japanese illustrator Yokouchi Fumihiko.
"Sano is a master craftsman of gleefully nasty drill'n'bass acrobatics, his 'million Playstations in a blender' aesthetic delighting listeners even as it flays them alive."
(The Wire)
"Spinning frantic cavalcades of heavy metal and skittering jungle. Sometimes silly, sometimes difficult, but kookily inventive" (Q Magazine)
