ICARUS news
After a notable absence of recorded material since 2002's 'Misfits', Icarus are pleased to announce the imminent release of a new LP on The Leaf Label.
Entitled 'I Tweet The Birdy Electric', the new record is filled with two years worth of experimentation and exploration into many new avenues. It will be in stores on April 26th and is available to pre-order through Posteverything now.
Since 2002 Ollie Bown and Sam Britton have frequently performed live (many of the tracks on the new album first appeared in the live set). In an attempt to document the evolution of this massive sprawl of continuous improvisation, they've put together what will hopefully form the first of a series of films relating to the shows.
The film is a recording of a live set from the Acces-s Festival in Pau, France at which Icarus played to the accompanying film made by Alice Scott (who is part of the film/animation company Squint/Opera. You can see the whole thing (50 minutes/86Mb) at their website www.icarus.nu.
They hope to upload two more films to live sets in the near future; another by Alice and one by Laurent Duriaud, who is also making a video for the album.
For those of you that remember Icarus's first foray into music and silent film at London's Lux Cinema in 2001, some of these films now also grace the website ('A-Film' by Daniel Clift, 'Xot-Zoiks' by Donald Christie and 'Kuch' by Laurent Duriaud). There are also some more bizarre concoctions available.
For those of you in the UK, they'll be playing live around the release of the album:
