Sam Britton of ICARUS live event

Thursday June 12 & Friday June 13
Hoxton Hall, London, UK

In turns angry, frustrated, analytical and satirical, but always in awe of the absurd manifestation we call human society, the works of Daniil Kharms (1905-1942, Russia) bring to the front of our collective consciousness a final, desperate image of the human condition itself: a well oiled machine driving insatiably towards the edge of oblivion.

'In Kharms Way' presents a snapshot of this reality, animated and reconstructed by the most contorted tools of our 'modern' age: The eager, intense vocalisation, saxophone playing and puppetry of Ted Milton and Sam Britton's deconstructed, rewired laptop computer.

Ted Milton (Blurt) and Sam Britton (Icarus) initially constructed 'In Kharms Way' as an 'experiment' for the Rotozaza 'Connexions' festival (Paris, 2001). The piece received much acclaim and was subsequently developed into a full length show.

The full length piece was toured extensively in Europe in 2002. These are the first performances in the UK.

Ted Milton can also be seen performing with Blurt at the Union Chapel on the 16th July.
