The Leaf Label are delighted to announce their first ever UK tour this spring, featuring Colleen (also embarking on her first full UK tour) and Triosk (their second visit to Europe and first since 2005).
Triosk will be touring their second album The Headlight Serenade in Europe for the first time. In a live setting, Triosk fluctuate between the atmospheric soundscapes of their recorded work, and high energy improvisations dedicated to the exploration of musical possibilities and limits.
Colleen (aka Cécile Schott) has finished her third full-length, entitled Les Ondes Silencieuses, which will be released shortly after this tour. On this tour Cécile will be playing the rare viola da gamba (the seven-string ancestor of the cello), classical guitar, clarinet, music boxes and wind chimes.
One of the shows on this tour will be recorded for future broadcast on BBC Radio 3’s Late Junction show. With a line-up that is unlikely to be repeated, the tour will provide an intimate experience like no other.

The Low Lows start a 3-week tour of mainland Europe and the UK this week. There will be a gorgeous new 2-track single, Elizabeth Pier, out at the end of March. Below is a list of their tour dates. Unfortunately, the Newcastle show has just been cancelled, so please don't turn up at the venue if you were hoping to see them there.
The wonderfully talented French filmmaker Vincent Moon, who made Barzin's 'Leaving Time' video, (and also worked with the National and Jamie Liddell) is also becoming very well-known for his 'takeaway shows', in which he films bands who are visiting Paris, often in unusual and unconventional settings around the city. The results are posted on his Blogtheque website. In November, during the last Low Lows Tour, he filmed two segments by The Low Lows, one in which they stroll into an elegant old Parisian bar and perform a new song, 'Black Bees', and another in which they spontaneously invade a city bus with an acoustic rendition of 'Dear Flies, Love Spider' that even has the passengers getting in on the act!. The results are captivating. If you look carefully you will se a small cameo by Barzin, who held the mic for them. If you go to the website quickly enough, you can even download the videos to play offline until the end of tomorrow.
The Low Lows tour dates:
February
23rd: Music In Mind Festival, Concertgebouw, Bruges (Belgium)
24th: Emporium Galorium, Rouen (France)
25th: Duyster Radio Program, Studio Brussel, Brussels (Belgium)
26th: private party, Paris (France)
27th: Le Tryptique, Paris (France)
28th: d:qliq, Luxembourg City (Luxembourg)
March
3rd: Hühnermanhattan, Halle/Saale (Germany)
5th: Amsterdam (Netherlands) VPRO Radio session recording
7th: London, The Luminaire (UK)
8th: Voodoo Lounge, Plymouth (UK)
9th: Yorkshire House, Lancaster (UK)
11th: Tunnels, Aberdeen (UK)
12th: Henry's Cellar Bar , Edinburgh (UK)
14th: City Screen Basement Bar, York (UK)
15th: The Adelphi, Hull (UK)
16th: The Albert, Brighton (UK)
We will have more news very soon about the absolutely stunning new single (Don't Go Down To Sorrow), album (The Destruction Of Small Ideas) and tour dates for 65daysofstatic, who are currently preparing for their debut US performances at SXSW next month.
Best wishes from Monotreme Records!

The Leaf Label's website is getting a little long in the tooth, and it's time for a major overhaul. They are looking for talented, creative web designers who are up for a challenge. The new website will be simpler and more manageable than the current one, but should retain the flair and originality that makes the label what it is. If you're interested in either the visual design of the site, and/or the technical aspests of building it, please get in touch. They want to hear from you.
Go to www.theleaflabel.com for contact details. Please do not email PostEverything.

We now have Nancy Wallace's 'Young Hearts' EP back in stock. Released back in 2005 this was the first release from The Memory Band vocalist.
The guy and gal from Psapp have sent us over a bundle of stock. As a result the Buttons And War EP is available again and we have a couple of new Psapp goodies for you. First is the Rear Moth EP. This is a great slice of orange vinyl housed in a custom made sleeve and a must for any Psapp completist! Second, we're lucky enough to get our paws on the Psapp Hessian bag which is currently out of stock on Psapp's very own website!!
Spend £10 (not including p&p) or more on Puss Puss releases and we'll throw in a set of Psapp postcards and a badge aswell.

February 2007
Hello
Another month of adventures, at a time when usually the pace is a little slower and eases you gently into the New Year. Still waiting for that chance to recharge my batteries!
Some of the oddest events have occurred too. A fine example of this was the discovery that a Vietnamese pop artist mistakenly used my work to win a coveted award from the Danish Embassy in Hanoi, only for the story to explode in the press there, the telephone ringing at 02.00 a.m with journalists, and downloads and statistics suddenly going wild on the website, such that for over a week scannerdot.com was receiving around 35,000 visitors a day, downloading on average around 20,000 MP3s! Extraordinary. With a reasonably happy end to the story I'm glad to report that that's now calmed down.
Speaking of MP3s I've completely updated the free download section of my website, with many new additions, including:
(Special Treatment for the) Family Man - a cover of the classic Tuxedomoon song, featuring my singing abilities, or as best they can be
City-Zen - a soundtrack for Hong Kong choreographer Mui Cheuk-yin & Shobana Jeyasingh
Night Email - excerpts from BBC radio 4 production for 60th anniversary of Night Mail, the outstanding black and white documentary with a libretto by W.H. Auden and music by Benjamin Britten.
Night Haunts- excerpts from Sukhdev Sandhu's nocturnal writings for our collaborative project for Artangel Interaction 2006-2007
Glittery Plastic - a 1980s tribute song
And more...many are unreleased pieces, soundtracks. etc.
Faultline, the new project from choreographer Shobana Jeyasingh, finally came to life in London at the Arts Depot this month. Having been through numerous changes now it will tour around the UK over the next couple of months. With Indian soprano Patricia Rosario taking lead throughout the score, the work is an atmospheric, rich and hybrid exploration of movement, sound, light and film, that was inspired by Gautam Malkani's book 'Londonstani'.
Much of the month has been spent focusing intensely on work which unfortunately, rather like Fight Club ("First Rule of Fight Club - you cannot speak about Fight Club") or the FBI, I am unable to write of, but suffice it to say it will be heard around the globe very soon. And no, I have not become a secret spy! Agent Scanner reporting in…beep…beep…
There's another chance to tune in to Occasional Offices, my recent collaboration with producer Roger Elsgood, celebrating the words of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer on BBC Radio 3 on Saturday February 17 at approximately 21.45 GMT. Following the broadcast you can listen back for up to seven days at the BBC website.
Occasional Offices is a celebration of Thomas Cranmer's words for the Occasional Offices in the 1662 Book Of Common Prayer, some of the most beautiful passages of 17th-century English. The programme features a succession of passages from the Occasional Offices: the Thanksgiving of Women after Childbirth, the Solemnisation of Matrimony, the Visitation of the Sick, the Burial of The Dead and the Baptism of Infants. Ideal listening for anyone interested in life, death and marriage!
February brings with it many opportunities to bond with my suitcase again - to Groningen in The Netherlands to present work at the Week of Europe, responding to ideas about European multiple choice identity in Education, around the UK for Faultline, over to Philadelphia to present The Order of Things, my installation and performance project at the Wagner Free Institute, and then to New York City to perform with David Rothenberg at Tonic at the end of the month, for a free improvisation around recordings of whales, insects and birds.
Time to fly away - see you next month!

04 February 2006 – on-going
Artangel Interaction invited writer and historian Sukhdev Sandhu to write a nocturnal journal unfolding over the course of 2006. His postings will appear sequentially at this microsite specially designed by Mind Unit. Sandhu's forays see him prospecting in the London night with the people who drive its pulse, from the avian police to security guards, zookeepers and exorcists. Acclaimed artist and musician Scanner has collaborated with Sukhdev and Ian Budden of Mind Unit to compose the sound for the site. If you would like to be kept informed as each episode is posted, join artangel‘s mailing list by clicking here.

NightJam
Bittersweet Songs for the Sleepless City
Artangel Interaction
20 July 2006...on-going
NightJam is the latest project in Artangel Interaction’s Nights of London series of artist-led collaborations with people who have a special view on a hidden side of the nocturnal city. Scanner invited young people at New Horizon Youth Centre in King’s Cross to collaborate on a creative project that expresses how the city at night looks and sounds to their ears and eyes. Through music and voice workshops they explored the sense of freedom and fear, celebration and solitude of the concealing darkness. Meanwhile, they captured their nights on disposable cameras, taking images that are at times eerie, startling, contemplative and funny. NightJam presents two elusive visual and musical journeys through the city’s ‘quiet’ hours.
NightJam resents two music tracks, a film, photographs, that can be experienced and freely downloaded. A limited edition CD is also being distributed for free through the website. A series of remixes by other artists will be available over the forthcoming months.
