Rune Grammofon are extremely happy to announce the forthcoming release of Melody Mountain, the new album from Susanna and the Magical Orchestra, on August 14th. This time the duo have chosen to record ten interpretations of, mostly, well-known songs by artists including Prince, AC/DC, Scott Walker and Leonard Cohen, some of which have been a part of their live set for a long time. Melody Mountain is produced by Deathprod, who co-produced and mixed their List of Lights and Bouys debut album.
Fort a taster of the new album, check out the excellent, and very special, version of Joy Division's classic Love Will Tear Us Apart at www.myspace.com/susannamagical, or download it at www.musiconline.no or www.musikkonline.no.
Early August will also see the release of Woodwork, the new album from Svalastog. Svalastog is one half of Information, who released 2002's much lauded Biomekano. He also had a stunning SPUNK rework on Filtered Through Friends the year before. On Woodwork he plays and improvises on archaic folk instruments, such as the ram's horn, and the harpeleik - a Norwegian zither. The recordings were then processed on computers, resulting in a warm, detailed, soothing and quite hypnotic music.

Adrian Klumpes, the pianist/keyboardist/composer from Triosk, has finished his first solo album, 'Be Still', which will be released October this year.
Much of the piano recording and preparation was achieved in one recording session earlier this year. Klumpes’s MySpace page will very soon host an exclusive edit of one of the tracks to feature on 'Be Still'.

Hello all!
Here it is, the first Cock Rock Disco news letter! Here you’ll find so much randomly gathered and potentially wrong information that we’re not sure if you’re really ready to get involved with this whole newsletter thing, but what the hell, eh? Sorry it's so long, but we have tons of news!
LOTS OF NEWS:
Jason Forrest
The sweatiest man in showbiz is back on the road a lot during the next months! But if you can’t catch him live, then why not go to www.daytrotter.com and download 7 specially recorded live tracks??? Humm? Ok, so there’s 4 “hits” on there, but also 3 unreleased tracks too!
He's also just beginning work on new material for an album possibly for 2007, is planning a return tour of the USA in the fall and
hopefully a tour to Japan in the late summer too!
Slepcy
We are proud as punch to announce our newest release: Slepcy’s We Are The Newest Battle Models (Crock010). It’s a very fresh new sound, sort of like melodic-vaguely jazzy Breakcore, with lots of surprises to keep you riveted to the speaker for the entire listen. We think they are the new Pink Floyd- but in the best way possible. We Are The Newest Battle Models(Crock010) - CD, 12" and DJ-Mp3 available now!
Maddest Chick’N Dom 12"
We started getting tracks by Warst and DJ Chucky a while ago and pretty much love them like our brothers. So we are helping them out by reissuing some greatest hits 12”s from their Osaka, Japan label, Maddest Chick’N Dom. We guarantee you will dance your ass off to these gabba-techno-rave traxx! Maddest Chick’N Dom #1 will be out in May as 12” and DJ-Mp3.
The Assdroids
Among our most new signees, the Assdroids will be ready with their debut release Daddy’s Gone in June. What can you expect? Well, its basically one of the loudest most fucked-up pieces of avant-noise-rock-comedy we’ve ever heard. It will simultaneously crush your head and lift your sprits. They are also getting close to finishing their debut LP for the fall. Daddy’s Gone will be out in May as 12” and Mp3.
Drumcorps
Aaron Spectre erupted on the scene last year with his brilliant first Drumcorps 10” record RMX or Die. Now he’s ready to unveil an EP called Live and Regret full of grindcore-infused Breakcore-insanity. Absolutely balls-hard and brilliantly structured, these tracks are mainly form his brilliant LP called Grist in the fall. We think it’s among the best metal/breaks experiments ever! Live and Regret EP 12” will be out in Mid-June as 12” and DJ-Mp3.
About
Rutger and guitarist Marge from Gramm have been on the road touring hardcore all April, and get a rest for May. They have lots of shows coming up later in the summer and have plans on a USA tour in the fall.
Audiogarde
We’re putting the finishing touches on Audiogarde’s debut masterpiece Popular Emotions now. We think just about everyone will be surprised with this one, and know that many girls will have a new heartthrob after its release… Should come out in late summer, which is perfect, because it’s light and breezy!
Duran Duran Duran
Is on tour now in USA, and will be in EU for a tour with Pisstank in July/August. (Send us an email if you want to book them!) He is also hard at work on finishing his second LP, which we think will raise as many yes as his debut release did last year! We think it will come out in the early fall.
Dev/Null
Finally, after 3 years in the making, we think that Dev/Null is finished with his debut LP release! Now, we just have to get some artwork sorted out, and then we can release it! More news to come soon!
Vorpal
Last years surprise hit An Incomplete Guide to Vorpal Music surprised many people with its origional sound. He’s set to release a CD by our friends at Sublight this summer called Digressions. There’s rumors he might even start playing live too!
Food For Animals
Are hard at work in the studio working on their debut LP, but we don’t know exactly when they will be done with it, but what we’ve heard so far is amazing.
Pisstank
The lord of the rave is done with his first 12” and working on #2. We hope to release #1 in the late summer - just in time for histour with Duranx3.
Don Augusto
After numerous delays with our own scheduling (sorry!), we’ll finally be able to release Don Augusto's debut 12” in the fall. He’s already hard at work on a second LP, which should be for next year.
Doormouse
Dan’s on tour now in the USA and also is looking for shows in the EU in late summer. The guy is a madman for sure, and if he's in or near your town, for god’s sake man, go out and see him!
Terminal 11
Mike is working on a new record that will, again, blow away everyone with it's shockingly unique approach to information organization. We’re hosting a really cool video of a track of his on our myspace page: www.myspace.com/cockrockdiscolabel He too will be on tour in EU this summer, more news and dates soon!
Next Life
Are back to being the original Duo of Tormund and Hai again, and should be playing around a lot in the next months too. Plans for a big Norwegian tour and also a USA tour are in the works!
White Cock 1-4 CD Comp
OK, we know we are releasing a lot, but we guarantee you its all super-great quality. Added to this will be a low-priced comp of all the White Cock 12” tracks. Should be available in June, and more info on this soon.
OK, so here's a recap of the schedule:
May/June: Slepcy - We Are The Newest Battle Models - CD, Mp3 & 12"
May/June: Maddest Chick'N Dom #1 - 12" & high quality DJ-Mp3
June: White Cock 1-4 - CD
June: The Assdroids - Daddy's Gone - 12" & Mp3
June: Drumcorps - Live and Regret - 12"& high quality DJ-Mp3
July/August: Audioguarde - Popular Emotions - CD & high quality DJ-Mp3
July/August: White Cock #4 - 12"
July/August: Pisstank 12" #1
The rest of the year-ish:
Drumcorps LP/CD, Assdroids LP/CD, Duran Duran Duran LP/CD, Don Augusto 12", Pisstank #2 12", DJ Rainbow Ejaculation 12", Maddest Chick'N Dom #2, Dev/Null LP/CD (?), Vorpal - Addendum 12"
What does "high quality DJ-Mp3" mean?
We know that more and more people DJ with Mp3s, and we know what they want to be able to drag it into their preferred application and just DJ it immediately. Now select Cock Rock Disco releases will come bundled with Ableton and Traktor files included, and Mp3s will be in 256 Kbs compression. This comes with the now standard printable artwork, so you can archive it in your collection, and all compressed in 1 easy to download .zip file. WOW!
Free comp
www.cockrockdisco.com/free.zip
Its been downloaded a shocking 43,863 times as for today, which far-far surpasses any of our wildest fantasies. Go grab it and be the 43,864th!
So as you can read, we’re crazy busy these days! Please send an email if you are interested in arranging shows for any of our artists, and please keep involved at the CRD forum and webshop! We had a crazy 1/2 price sale a few weeks ago, and we smell another one coming on too… so check in with us!
Thanks!

June 2006
Hello
Monsoons in Europe, earthquakes in Java, Michael Jackson moving to Scotland, it is enough begin to question the sanity of our world, isn't it?
I'm returning to my personal insanity of traveling too. Indeed it has already begun - in the last week I have been presenting my work in New York City at the AIGA/MOVE 3 conference, then jet setting over to Milan to devour fast food pizza and perform with TeZ at the Mixed Media festival. New York brought sunshine, the Whitney Biennial, Hans Bellmer, pancakes, Strand Books, King of the Hill, Andrea Zittel, and a new suitcase to squeeze all my new books into, whilst Italy offered the delightful opportunity to perform at Hangar Bicocca, part of the Pirelli Estate. This space, occupying 15,000, square meters, is simply extraordinary. We were honoured to perform alongside seven monumental towers created by Anselm Kiefer that symbolize the mystical experience of the ascent through the seven levels of spirituality. I have chosen to pick a few images of these adventures and begun to feature them on the my website, so if you are curious, click to www.scannerdot.com
Mission Impossible 3, a set of walkie talkies, a pile of books and a sweet cake with a modestly reserved array of candles brought me into another year of my life, and I was happy to share this date with Miles Davis, Simon Armitage, Joan Collins and Lenny Kravitz. No need for a walking stick as yet though which is reassuring, and thanks to those of you who remembered ;-)
The Long Weekend at Tate Modern to close the month was another adventure. Flanking events with Ryoji Ikeda, Alva Noto, Trisha Brown and DJ Spooky, I performed John Cage's Fontana Mix three times as part of the Musicircus afternoon to a massive mobile crowd of families, artists, bewildered looking tourists and other musicians, crammed into this colossal space. Squeezing through corridors and edging down staircases, even End of the Year sales couldn't compare to the popularity of this afternoon!
Night Haunts (www.nighthaunts.org.uk) continues with Exorcism this month, so look into your crystal balls and prepare yourself for a story of the wickedest place in London, with Satan begone from The House of Detention. Connecting with London's premiere festival of progressive advanced cinema, onedotzero, Sukhdev Sandhu and I will be presenting this project at the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) this weekend, 03 June 2006, a part of The City in Flux discussion. It will also be a chance to experience excerpts from the forthcoming onedotzero live narrative audiovisual commission, 'Four Points of Coincidence' from acclaimed director Kieran Evans (co director Finisterre) with musical collaborator, Argentinian producer Gustavo Lamas (Trauma / Kompakt).
And whilst we are talking of high art, then why not consider, if passing through London on 5, 6, 7 & 8 June 2006, visiting the Royal Opera House and revel in the 75 th anniversary celebrations of the Royal Ballet at the Royal Opera House where I've soundtracked Qualia, choreographed by Wayne McGregor, alongside Frederick Ashton, David Bintley, and Christopher Wheeldon. Tutus a-go-go!!
Choose one piece of music. Go on - just try it. This is the challenge posed by Julius Nil, Sunday nights on Resonance FM in London. Each episode, Nil invited one guest to choose one piece of music to listen to and talk about. I chose a song by King Crimson! The new publication One Reason To Live compiles fourteen insightful, inciteful, conversations with some of the most important and innovative figures in jazz, rock, classical, sound art, cultural theory, and philosophy. Guests included David Toop, John Parish, Steven Connor, Brandon LaBelle, and Ken Vandermark amongst others. Published by Errant Bodies, anyone in London might like to enjoy a free launch event at the Architectural Association on 8 June, with Christoph Cox, David Toop, Steven Conner, John Parish and myself.
And thinking of returning to my roots, I'm showing work at Arti et Amicitiae in Amsterdam, an art-society founded in 1939, with a sound installation using scanned phonecalls, as well as pieces that can be experienced on mobile phones in the locality.
I was recently commissioned by the BBC to remix Brian Eno and David Byrne for broadcast, in tandem with the launch of their remix project around My Life in the Bush of Ghosts CD.(http://bush-of-ghosts.com/remix/bush_of_ghosts.htm)Search under 'Scanner - Front Row' and have a listen to the results.
Much of the next month will be spent in Australia, Brisbane in fact, where I'll be developing work with Time_Place_Space (T_P_S), a national professional development strategy enabling emerging and established Australian artists to explore new methodologies and practices in hybrid/interdisciplinary arts, with an emphasis on performance. Taking the role of facilitator I'll be out there to develop strategies to enable a sustainable arts practice for individuals. Any local Brisbanians please get in touch so we can say hello in person.
See you in July
Best wishes
Robin Rimbaud

Night Haunts
By Sukhdev Sandhu
Design: Mind Unit
Sound Design: Scanner
04 February 2006 - 04 February 2007
Artangel Interaction invited writer and historian Sukhdev Sandhu to write a nocturnal journal unfolding over the course of 2006. His postings will appear sequentially at this microsite specially designed by Mind Unit. Sandhu's forays see him prospecting in the London night with the people who drive its pulse, from the avian police to security guards, zookeepers and exorcists. Acclaimed artist and musician Scanner has collaborated with Sukhdev and Ian Budden of Mind Unit to compose the sound for the site. If you would like to be kept informed as each episode is posted, join artangel's mailing list by clicking here.

What Sound Does A Color Make?
Govett-Brewster Art Gallery
New Plymouth, New Zealand
20 May - 16 July 2006
The premiere of What Sound Does a Color Make? features contemporary and historical works by an internationally diverse group of artists who manipulate sound with image and image with sound. The show includes artists who likewise use technology to inspire a renewed consciousness of highly un-technological experiences -- physicality, human cognition, and perception. Featuring work by Scott Arford, Jim Campbell, D-Fuse with Scanner, Granular Synthesis, Gary Hill, Atau Tanaka, Stephen Vitiello, Nam June Paik and others.
What Sound Does a Color Make? is a travelling exhibition (2005-2007) organised & circulated by iCi, curated by Kathleen Forde.
