Blurt's long awaited Vol. 2 CD in the “Best of” series, the successor to The Fish Needs A Bike, will be available soon. The exact release date has not been set yet, but will be sometime in late spring or early summer 2006.

Ted Milton and Blurt are also currently booking shows for their European tour planned for spring 2006 to support that release. Any interested promoters should contact booking@tedmilton.com. WIRE : 1977 >1979 – Pinkflag (America) CHILD
WIRE - Pink Flag (pf11) CD
WIRE - Chairs Missing (pf12) CD
WIRE - 154 (pf13) CD
---
WIRE - Live at The Roxy, London - April 1st & 2nd 1977 (pf9) CD
WIRE - Live at CBGB Theatre, New York - July 18th 1978 (pf10) CD
While WIRE and the individuals associated with it continue to be an intrinsic part part of the contemporary musical & artistic landscape, undoubtedly the foundations on which the reputations of Colin Newman, Graham Lewis, Robert Grey & Bruce Gilbert collectively & individually are built remain the work they did in the period 1977-1979. Thus it is with extreme pride that Pinkflag (America) is proud to present the 1st 3 classic Wire albums in the first ever “proper” CD releases of these late 70’s classics.
The re-mastered albums are all returned to the original vinyl release running order (no inappropriate extra “bonus” tracks) therefore honouring the conceptual clarity of the original statements – and are presented as digipack replicas of the original vinyl sleeves with a 12 page booklet detailing the story of the development of each album and illustrated by previously unseen photos.
To accompany these releases Pinkflag (worldwide) is making 2 "co-releases” WIRE: Live at The Roxy, London - April 1st & 2nd 1977 (Pf9) – 2 whole sets from the legendary Roxy “Punk Festival” – 6 full months before the recording of “Pink Flag”, and WIRE: Live at CBGB Theatre, New York - July 18th 1978 (Pf10) a radio broadcast recorded just after the making of “Chairs Missing” featuring live versions of tracks from both “Pink Flag” & “Chairs Missing” available. These will complement the already released WIRE: On the Box -1979 - DVD + CD (pf7tv) from February 14th 1979 which featured live versions of songs from “Chairs Missing” & “154”.
Exclusively available from www.posteverythng.com in March will also be the limited edition PINK FLAG / WIRE DELUXE SET 1977 > 1979 ( EDITION OF 1000) boxed set. This will contain the 5 CDs [Pink Flag/ Chairs Missing/ 154/ Live at The Roxy, London/ Live at CBGB Theatre, New York] all in attractive “mini vinyl” replicas of the original releases, plus a "bookette" containing all the contents of the booklets accompanying the digipack versions and all the lyrics (not available with digipacks formats).
Please read the Box set FAQ for more information.

Some of you may already have heard that Psapp, who released their debut album on The Leaf Label in North America in late 2004, have now signed a worldwide deal with Domino Records.
Psapp's first single for Domino, Tricycle, is set for release mid April and the longplayer, entitled The Only Thing I Ever Wanted is scheduled for May 22. They're currently working on some rather amusing videos...
They've also got a couple of confirmed dates for this year with more to be announced soon:
Feb 23: Psapp DJing in Luxembourg for The Design and Media Awards
April 29: Festival “Printemps de Bourges”
May 4: Les Nuits Botaniques Festival

The Leaf Label have reduced the prices of lots of their catalogue on PostEverything, with loads of CD albums now listed at £7 or less, and several as low as £5. There are plenty of vinyl releases marked down as well. You can find the full Leaf catalogue here. Happy hunting!

Hello hello!
First up is a new restructured website, finally bringing it out of the 70's ghetto of html tables, and now fully database and css driven! Its still needing a bit of design work, but working very well, and should now be simple as hell to update. Have a look and let us know if you find any problems with OS/browser combinations. http://highpointlowlife.com
randomNumber 'Golden Acre Sleeps' release party! Wednesday 8th February, we're joining the good people of lonepilot.co.uk to host the randomNumber release party. Its upstairs at Catch on Kingsland road, London, and should be a lovely little intimate affair, with Highpoint Lowlife DJs helping the evening along. Check out http://www.lonepilot.co.uk/show3.html for full details of the lineup, and flyers.
Matt/random will be following that up with a few other shows, playing Oxford on the 22nd with Sunburned Hand Of The Man, Rhythm Factory, London on the 24th with Mike Paradinas and Trencher, and then up in Glasgow on March 4th. You'll find more details on our site or at Matts' own: http://www.discontents.co.uk/
Also on the live front, next month on the 7th March, Marshall Watson will be over in the UK for the first time, and playing an exclusive London date at The Old Blue Last. More details on that in the next week or two as we finalize the lineup..
From the latest technologies to the classics... We just got kitted out with a nice new office turntable, something we've been lacking in for awhile, and we're basking in the sound of vinyl. Picked up Bonnie Prince Billy's 'I See A Darkness', recommended to me as the best Will Oldham album to start with, and yes, we're loving it! That's in preparation for all the lovely vinyl releases we have coming up this year, so if you're without one yourself, think about
stealing/borrowing or buying yourself one, so you can join in the fun with:
Fisk Industries - '77 and Rising' 10" mini-album, just at the pressing plant and due back this Saturday or possibly Monday. Limited to 500 copies, and an eagerly awaited follow up 2003's Isle Of Wight EP. "satisfyingly kinetic crunchy beats. Every track is urged forward by tastily treated breaks and given weighty ballast by generous swathes of cybernetic low end." The Wire.
Like A Stuntman 10" mini-album.Finishing up work on that at the moment, and due for pressing by the end of this month, and going to be followed another UK tour this June. Last years album 'Fresh Air Is Not The Worst Thing In Town' is also going to be re-released domestically in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, on the lovely Hamburg based label Records&Me. Check out their site at: http://www.recordsandme.de/
That 7" series, we've been hankering on about, after some design discussions, we're now thinking of going with a boxset instead, containing the series of 7 x 7"s, instead of individual releases. Absolute commercial suicide, I'm sure you'll agree, but oh, what a lovely collectors item it will make! We'll let you know the final lineup of artists in the next month or two.
Also on the release front, Izu's 'Going Salamander' is now in for pressing and should be back within the next few weeks. We have complete albums from Marshall Watson, The Mandelbrot Set, just waiting on artwork at the moment, and very near completion are the Tigrics and Marcia Blaine School For Girls albums. It's going to be a good year!
You will now find Bovaflux's "Where There Was Nothing" up at Warpmart, joining The Village Orchestra, as should be all upcoming HPLL releases.
I think that's about it for this month. Join us on Resonance FM next Friday, the 10th of February for our regular Small Pieces show, and keep checking the site for new content.
Many thanks!
Highpoint Lowlifers.

February 2006
Hello
The sound of drilling and sanding has paused whilst for a moment I try to engage with other things, rather than the removal of walls, the building of over 70 book and vinyl shelves and trying to keep this evil layer of dust at bay. Yes, Scanner HQ moves towards completion.
Less traveling the last month, so it’s been a chance to re-charge my physical and emotional batteries and concentrate on the projects that occupy my day and frequently night hours.
I’m currently working on a yearlong project with London based art producers, Artangel, on Night Haunts, which launches on 4th February. Writer and historian Sukhdev Sandhu is writing a nocturnal journal unfolding over the course of 2006. His postings will appear sequentially at this site, as well as being serialised in the Daily Telegraph newspaper. Sandhu's forays will see him prospecting in the London night with the people who drive its pulse, from the avian police to security guards, zookeepers and exorcists. Ian Budden of Mind Unit and myself are composing the shape and sound to the site.
In the course of his Night Haunts adventures Sandhu will reflect on the nature of the urban night: does the quality of night change between 1am and 4am, and between the East End and the West? Has 'night life' been gradually corroded and colonised by light and entertainment? What are the invisible economies that pulse through the sleeping city? Does the Thames change its character at dusk? Is authentic darkness impossible? These intriguing ideas and proposals will be followed over the twelve month period and at present none of us has any idea of how it will develop which is a most enticing prospect. You can also subscribe to the writings at the website too.
Another interesting project is just kicking off at the Winter Olympic Games in Torino Italy, entitled Echoes From the Mountains / Suoni in Alta Quota, tuning into the forces of nature and of art. Its goal is to stimulate the public to pay more attention to the world of sounds and to learn to interact with it. 11 international artists were commissioned to create sound and music installations as well as performances which will be positioned and presented in a few of the ski-resorts that will be hosting the Games, amongst them Joe Diebes, Stephen Vitiello, Enrico Glerean and ZimmerFrei. The eminent Charlie Morrow will also present his Sound-Cube which will showcase sound-works by Olivia Block, Steve McCaffery, Miya Masaoka, Vlada Tomova and myself.
I’m presenting A Natural Love, a surround sound piece, that explores the astonishing sounds of seduction and passion in the natural world, using wildlife recordings of matings calls and sexual activity in such creatures as bats, albatrosses, tungler frogs, asian lions, billygoats mute swans, elephants, puerto rican tree frogs, peacocks, swallows, beluga whales, capuchin birds, blue tits, cats, bees, grey lions, toads, satin bowerbirds, grey seals, hammer headed fruit bats, swallow gulls and elephant seals. It’s an unusual chance to broadcast animal pornography across the mountains, so goodness knows that the skiers will make of these sounds!
And still wondering about ways in which to shed a few extra pounds or kilos after that Christmas binge? Well, my new Tinnito CD on Persistencebit Records, a collaboration with Italian minimalist funkers Rolf & Fonky, has finally struck daylight and emerged from the archive, might offer a few pointers. Beautifully designed by Nenadot, it’s a punishing album of sonic headstrong beats and skull crashing rhythms, aimed directly at your hips and feet. It’s like a little dinner party between DFA, Jeff Mills and Kraftwerk, whilst the Chemical Brothers serve cakes and tea. Wear loose pants whilst listening!
Fancy a lovely song instead? Perhaps something a little moodier and nostalgic? Next To Nothing, a new CD out on Optical Sound from France, is entirely composed of covers of the legendary Tuxedomoon – a Californian group in a state of perpetual exile since the beginning of the eighties. The learned fan will find himself lost in a very improbable place, sort of a Gothic cathedral where the gargoyles are blinking at each other; others will recognize the sonorities of a distant melody, a part of the soundtrack of the eighties, as heard by nowadays' ears. Alongside friends like Simon Fisher Turner and Norscq, I have performed and sung a cover version of my favourite 1980s song, ‘(Special Treatment for the) Family Man.’ And yes, you did read that correctly, I sing on this fine record.
And how about some free music too? Tune your URL to http://godxiliary.com/ and download the massive .zip file of a year long project, where 20 songs were built and destroyed by 20 musicians, so it’s been a constant recycling of each other. Most entertaining!
I’m off to the icy windy city of Minneapolis this month to present my work at the Spark Festival in association with www.free103point9.org, a project which you can either support locally by attending or else listen to online. Interestingly I’ll be using audio and video from a gallery in Brooklyn that will be webcast to Minneapolis where I’ll be performing in person, in collaboration with the Brooklyn performers, to a live Spark festival audience. Tune in and pretend you were there!
Best wishes as always and wrap up warm

27 January - 07 April 2006
The premiere of What Sound Does a Color Make? features contemporary and historical works by an internationally diverse group of artists who manipulate sound with image and image with sound. The show includes artists who likewise use technology to inspire a renewed consciousness of highly un-technological experiences -- physicality, human cognition, and perception. Featuring work by Scott Arford, Jim Campbell, D-Fuse with Scanner, Granular Synthesis, Gary Hill, Atau Tanaka, Stephen Vitiello, Nam June Paik and others.
What Sound Does a Color Make? is a travelling exhibition (2005-2007) organised & circulated by iCi, curated by Kathleen Forde.
