An independant record label from London, formed in 2002 by Scottish musicians Angus Keith and Bjorn Hatleskog, ADAADAT work with a wide range of both computer and instrument based artists who perform a mixture of chip music, breakcore, plunderphonics, noise, spaz-rock & experimental electronic music. All sharing an irreverent, playful attitude and a D.I.Y. aesthetic.
Here are some nice things people have said about ADAADAT:
"It's difficult to remember the last time that electronic music actually sounded fresh and modern. Y'know, like it's supposed to. Well I can say without fear of reprisal that ADAADAT are threatening to do something about it... ADAADAT are systematically seizing IDM and bludgeoning the 'intelligence' out of it with a big purple crocodile. Really, it's that much fun." Dot Alt
"When Peel left us, many could be heard to say who else would play gabba next to an old Hank Williams tune? Well, it would appear that a number of people paid attention... ADAADAT have taken the music from those bedrooms, slapped it on CD, and taken it to the stage. They inhabit worlds that Warp have hinted at; that Squarepusher and Aphex Twin left to visit earth. Make no mistake, this is full on Electronica but it is fresh and exciting. It rarely sounds laboured, instead taking Warp's blueprint and er, Warping it." Losing Today
"ADAADAT have uncovered an entirely new sub genre of digital weirdness that's sure to make a lasting impression on rock-weary ears." Splendid
"Some of the finer post-Squarepusher-heritage algorithms are being developed right now at the Hackney-estates of the ADAADAT collective." Keith Fullerton Whitman
"It's been said many times before, but its worth saying again - ADAADAT is the new Warp. Especially now that old people like Warp. There was a time when you would hear a record and identify it as having the Warp sound this is possible with ADAADAT releases yet taking an experimental electronic template and twisting it into a whole new direction." The Communion
"Essential for those of you who consider the Aphex Twin a genteel starting point, or actual religion." Organ
"At the place where computer game soundtracks, electropop, alpha wave emissions and industrial process control meet exists the ADAADAT label. Lots of A's several D's, scary men interfering with GameBoys, Japanese children playing on Zelda too much bubble tea, romance at the arcade, riding electric scooters through the shopping mall."
