Hello

This month began in a surreal manner. I was woken up around 05.30 a.m. by loud scraping and scratching noises above me, which suggested that my upstairs neighbours had decided to move their furniture around for breakfast hour. However when I grew tired of the noises I looked out of my window and saw the torso of a man climbing onto my roof. Immediately I telephoned the local Metropolitan Police who ... Hello
The clocks moved back in Great Britain, the mornings are brighter, the evenings darker and it’s time to search out gloves and funky hats to keep warm.

With a nasty flu virus catching victims all over Europe I was devoured by a nasty bout for over two weeks this last month, leading to loss of hearing in my left ear. Wondering if my life would now be led in mono and I’d be listening ... [read full article]

Hello

I write this as the UK descends to rapidly sinking under rainfall and severe weather warnings are posted around the country to prepare us all for the onslaught of further adventures. I’m packing my suitcase and off to Beijing for the weekend where I just read there’s a 100% chance of heavy rainfall so I guess I’ll be growing gills and wearing my Speedo swim trunks permanently soon.

Much of June was spent in the sanctuary ... [read full article]

The mornings are sunnier, the nights lighter, so summer is coming for Europe. A fine way to by-pass the sudden snow flurries of the UK was to work in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, last week, performing and presenting my work at the Hipersonica Festival which featured video-art, interactivity, talks, and an amazing night-long series of shows at the impressive Museum of Modern Art. Hello

I have just landed today from the USA, having traveled up the East Coast. Many people today are accustomed to Immigration and Customs at airports but nothing had prepared me for the surreal encounter on entering Philadelphia airport. Standard questions as 'what are you doing in the USA How long will you stay here? Where are you staying?' were greeted with my standard answers. Nothing could have prepared me for the additional questions from ... [read full article]

Another month of adventures, at a time when usually the pace is a little slower and eases you gently into the New Year. Still waiting for that chance to recharge my batteries!

Welcome to the New Year, 2007, a fresh start, an excuse to take more exercise, find new ways forward and erase the eccentricities and excesses of last year, as always.

December took a more contemplative direction, with time spent in Philadelphia researching materials at the Wagner Free Institute for my show this year, rummaging through hand-written letters and transcripts of lectures from 1850, transcribing Latin classifications of organisms, and having the rare chance to view ... Hello

It's moving towards the festive season here, the Christmas lights brightening up the dark evenings and toasty central heating buffering against the chilly nights.
