PostEverything Demo Policy
PostEverything is NOT a record label and we don't accept demo submissions. Please don't waste your own time sending us your music or emailing us links that we'll never follow. Contact labels directly if you want to send a demo. If you've never heard of any of the labels hosted at PostEverything, or don't know what kind of music they release, make the effort to research this; sending unsuitable material is a waste of everyone's time.
All labels have artists on their rosters who have come to them via unsolicited demos. However, please take the time to read and digest the following points before sending anything to any label.
- DO NOT send MP3 files attached in e-mail, they will be regarded as spam and binned unheard. DO NOT expect anyone to visit websites to download MP3s or other digital media. Life is too short.
- Acceptable formats vary from label to label, but CD(R) and vinyl are more or less universally accepted. Please check with individual labels before sending material on other formats.
- Approach sending a demo to a label with the expectation that you will be extremely lucky to receive any more than 30 seconds attention. Put the thing you absolutely think is the best first. No one ever failed to succeed with a label by sending too little material. Keep it short!!
- Labels do listen to submissions, but they recieve a lot of material, so they may take a while to get round to it. Nagging them about it will not produce anything but putting your submission on the bottom of the pile. Do not expect anyone to acknowledge receipt of your submission or send it back to you (individual labels may return demos if you include SAE or IRCS but don't assume this is general policy).
- Please make sure your name and contacts are on the demo AND packaging. The demo may become divorced from the packaging and the disc (or other medium) may become divorced from the case. Assume that labels receive piles of demos and yours may get lost in the pile.
- None of this is intended to discourage you, just give you a sense of realism. If you receive no positive response do not assume you may never receive a positive response. Sometimes your material may be appreciated but may not quite have that elusive something, perhaps your next submission will.
- If a label hears something it can work with they will always get back to you. There's no point in chasing them as all it's likely to do is cause irritation.
- Please remember that all PostEverything labels are independent, self-financing ventures. Developing talent costs money and time. They will have to be very convinced before they can commit that time and money to your project. They are more likely to be convinced by material you consider "finished" and ready for release.
