Hailing from Adelaide, Australia, Clue to Kalo mastermind Mark Mitchell mixes melodic electronic production, passionate lyrics, and unconventional lo-fi vocals to produce a sound that is both technically impressive and expressive of emotion.
His work for Australian imprint Surgery has received universally positive reviews and landed him a spot on 2000's Top-10 list for national alternative radio station, Triple J.. His equally notable live show was recently singled out in a concert review by The Wire as a highlight of the 2001 Sound Summit Festival in Newcastle. With productions that are simultaneously dynamic and hypnotic, Clue to Kalo is set to establish himself as an artist of note.

Some things I liked in 2003:
THEMSELVES TOUR - the things that happened to me and the people I met made this tour one of the best parts of my year.
THE MICROPHONES, MT EERIE
LYDIA DAVIS, SAMUEL JOHNSON IS INDIGNANT
THE LORD OF THE RINGS MOVIES - even though I've never read the books, I decided early on to love these movies. You should try it. Just choose to love.
PATRICK ROSENKRANZ, REBEL VISIONS: THE UNDERGROUND COMIX REVOLUTION 1963 - 1975
THE CLEAN, ANTHOLOGY - I know this came out in 2002, but sometimes it takes me awhile to get wise to things.
BILLY WILDER, THE APARTMENT - I know this came out in 1960, but sometimes it takes me awhile to get wise to things.
SAUL BELLOW BOOK BONANZA - I found pretty much his entire catalogue cheap in a second-hand bookshop in 2003.
JIM WOODRING, THE FRANK BOOK
cLOUDDEAD, TEN - Not included to be a smartguy (it's not out yet); this is one of the great records I heard last year.
