Strange Attractor vs. Disinformation

(ADAADAT) Releases || News

Strange Attractor is Mark Pilkington, editor and publisher of the acclaimed esoteric anthology series Strange Attractor Journal. As well as writing for numerous publications and organising multimedia events, Mark is also one half of synth and sitar duo Raagnagrok and the ambientdoomkrautfreakout outift Stella Maris Drone Orchestra

Disinformation is an electronic music and installation art project, which, since 1995, pioneered the use of electromagnetic noise from the sun, live mains electricity, domestic, industrial, laboratory, medical, transport and IT hardware, lightning and magnetic storms etc as the raw material of LPs, CDs, concerts, DJ sets and fine art presentations.

Disinformation is best known for exhibiting an optokinetic installation named after William Hogarth's book "The Analysis of Beauty", for the "Stargate" and "National Grid" sound installations, for its pioneering explorations of redundant military Sound Mirror technology, for the MIT Press published "Rorschach Audio" research project, and for its series of luminous graffiti, light, sound and shadow-wall installations exhibited under the titles "Artificial
Lightning" and "The Origin of Painting".

Disinformation has exhibited and performed at The Hayward Gallery and The V&A (London), NTT ICC (Tokyo), Kiasma (Helsinki), CCCB (Barcelona), Kettle's Yard (Cambridge), The Dom (Moscow), ZKM (Karlsruhe), Montevideo (Amsterdam), Lampo (Chicago), Galerie fur Zeitgennossische Kunst (Leipzig), Fabrica (Brighton), ORF Kunstradio (Vienna), The Volksbuhne (Berlin), The Olympic Stadium in Barcelona, in churches, schools, community centres, squats, trawlers, railway tunnels, nightclubs, cocktail bars, folk clubs and a nuclear bunker, and has been subject of ten UK solo gallery exhibitions.

Early Disinformation LPs and CDs were released by the record company Ash International. The "Sense Data and Perception" CD is released by Iris Light Records, and the Strange Attractor vs Disinformation "Circuit Blasting" CD is released by breakcore / techno label Adaadat.
